Posted March 11, 2020 16:21:04Men’s swimwear has been the subject of a flurry of debate since a Sydney company released a range of swimwear for men last month.
The products include swim trumps shorts and the popular swimsuits.
While the shorts are generally the same as those for women, they have a variety of colours to match the gender of the wearer.
The company’s slogan, “Suit for Men and Women,” was coined after the company created a line of men’s swimsuits that were more tailored for women.
The swimwear comes with a price tag, with the company charging a total of $75 per pair for a range that also includes shorts, shorts with socks and socks with a zipper.
Men’s shorts have been worn in popular films such as the James Bond film Quantum of Solace, The Karate Kid and Iron Man 3.
However, while men’s shorts are still popular, women’s swimtubs are less popular.
A study conducted by the Sydney-based Centre for Gender Equality found women’s swimmers are still far more likely to get electrocuted than their male counterparts.
“If you’re a swimmer, chances are you’ve been electrocute,” said Dr Caroline Wilson, from the Centre for Women’s Health and Health Systems.
“We’re seeing that on a daily basis in the workplace.”
Dr Wilson says the swimwear is part of a broader trend that is seeing women’s swimming become more mainstream.
“It’s just a matter of time before women swim like men,” she said.
“When you look at the recent film Iron Man, there’s no question that it’s all about the women in that movie.”
There’s a lot of people who say that if they had a chance to swim like a man, they would choose to do so.
“I think women have really benefited from that.”
The women have the confidence to say ‘look, I’m not just doing this for my own enjoyment’.
“Dr Wilson said there was a growing desire among women to dress like men, rather than wearing swimsuits and T-shirts.”
What we’re seeing in the industry is a very strong shift from a women’s world to a man’s world,” she told ABC News.”
A lot of women are saying, ‘I’m not going to wear a T-shirt, I want to wear something that’s masculine’.
“I’ve seen a lot more women’s clothing with logos like ‘Men’s Swimwear’ on the back.”
Dr Bell says the women’s community is not necessarily against the products, but wants more information.
“Many of us feel a little bit of disappointment in the way that some of the products have been marketed, or are being marketed to women,” she added.
“So the way we feel is that we’d like to know more about what the women of Australia are wearing, so that we can see how we’re doing, and how the industry can better promote the products.”
