Posted November 06, 2018 07:48:31A man who allegedly assaulted two young boys in the Manitowoc area was an acquaintance, according to court documents.
The man, identified as Andrew T. Jones, 31, of Manitowowoc, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts each of battery and endangering the welfare of a child.
In a probable cause affidavit, prosecutors said Jones told the two boys that they were going to be attacked at gunpoint if they didn’t get out of the car.
The victim told the officer that Jones was standing behind him and said, “Just let him hit you,” the affidavit said.
The victim said he didn’t want to get hit by Jones.
The two children were in the back seat of the vehicle when Jones allegedly approached them and began hitting them with a stick.
The child, who suffered minor injuries, then grabbed Jones’ hands and pushed him out of their vehicle.
The boy, who was in the front seat, was then struck by another object, according the affidavit.
Jones was then arrested on the charges.
Prosecutors said Jones is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on the assault charges on Dec. 11.
Jones was arraigned Thursday in ManitowOC County Superior Court and was ordered held on $1 million bail.
